The reason for this is that the rights to those albums weren't with CBS. "Rocka Rolla" and "Sad Wings Of Destiny" (together with a "Best Of" album entitled "Hero, Hero") were released on the now defunct "Gull" label. As of 1977's "Sin After Sin", Judas Priest were signed chez CBS and when CBS decided to give the Priest the Remaster treatment, they started off with the first album under CBS's wings, too. Although "Sad Wings" contains quite a few fan favs, the true Priest sound did in fact also start with their third outing. Rocka Rolla showed some promise, but bar the rather excellent "Run Of The Mill" it contained nothing noteworthy. Good rock, yes, but nothing more than that. So, with Gull Records going down the drain, no-one knew exactly who had the rights and everybody assumed that both first and second Priest releases would never surface as remastered items. Until 2006, that is, and rather obscure label "Diesel And Glory" came to the fore with this here release. Besides these Priest albums, "Diesel And Glory" have to my knowledge just one other album on their roster and that's former WASP guitar player's band "Randy Piper's Animal" with 2006's "Violent Breed"... That this is a smelly release can not be heard, as the sound is excellent. But rather dubious are the so-called bonus tracks on "Sad Wings" as they consist of short interviews with former Priest drummer John Hinch. Dubious because why let a guy who was in the band for just over a year do the talking about Judas Priest's history? Anyway, like I said, the sound is excellent (and better than the original releases), so, nothing to complain about then... Files come from an original rip of mine which I have sitting on PC since 2008. Scans also date from around the same period and were done with my now defunct HP ScanJet 4670, when it still worked properly. Included are both videos that came on the discs ("Rocka Rolla" and "Dreamer Deceiver/Deceiver"). Both stem from a BBC "Old Grey Whistle Test" TV-recording back in 1975, featuring a Rob Halford with, not only hair, but long hair at that, can you imagine... Enjoy!
