Joseph Marx - Natur-Trilogie - S Sloane, Bochum SO (2003) [Philidor; FLAC]

Joseph Marx's Nature Trilogy, composed in the 1920s, is a Debussy-influenced invocation of the garden, the earth, and life itself, in three movements. Sadly, Marx's music went into an eclipse following WWII, when the most pedantic of the serialists used their control of university musical curricula and national radio services to relegate "the romantics" to the dustbin of history. Only since the 1980s have efforts been made to bring to life much of the music written in the 1920s through 1940s that didn't fit into a a very limiting Schoenbergian 12-tone perimeter. (Which isn't to say that 12-tone music can't be beautiful; but its priests definitely weren't.)
