Six Episodes (29min each) (.mkv 176MB each, approx. 702x576, 25fps) Starring: Robert Bathurst, Fiona Gillies, Tracie Bennett and Paul Raffield Running Time: 179 minutes plus extras Extras: Commentaries on four episodes with writer Steven Moffat, Robert Bathurst, Fiona Gillies and Tracie Bennett, plus "Fool If You Think It's Over", a specially shot feature on the background to the series. Joking Apart was a refreshingly different and adult comedy which ran for two series of six episodes each, winning both critical acclaim and a highly-prized award at the Montreux festival. In the style of a modern farce, it was the perfect antidote to all those twee sitcoms. It was trailed by the BBC as “bittersweet comedy" – indeed, the series was both incredibly funny and decidedly dark in places. The general theme – divorce – might not seem the most obvious source of humour but there’s no doubt that the writer, Steven Moffat, pulled it off spectacularly. (from www.jokingapart.co.uk) Episode One Mark meets Becky for the first time at a "party", and after a whirlwind romance, they tie the knot. But Mark is oblivious as his marriage begins to slowly crumble and when, after five years, his wife asks for a divorce, the scene is set for a night of utter humiliation for the both of them. Episode Two Robert and Tracy stay with Mark to try to help him get through his first night apart from Becky, as he reminisces about their first night together, at the end of an eventful first date. Episode Three Robert and Tracy have invited Becky and her new lover, Trevor, to dinner, but their plans go awry when Mark turns up shortly before they are due. Can the two parties be kept apart or will the night end in acrimony? Episode Four A retrospective episode in which Mark proposes to Becky four times, only to be rebuffed on each occasion. With Becky adamant she's looking for nothing serious, their relationship appears to be over, particularly when Mark does something stupid. Episode Five Robert has left his mobile phone at Mark’s flat, so Mark drives round to the house to return it. But separation can make for strange bedfellows…. Episode Six Mark has two women at his flat who both want to spend the night alone with him. When Becky turns up unexpectedly, he suspects she desires the same, but unless he can keep all three apart, he knows he’ll be in for a night of frustration.
