So, I can confirm that the instrument in this 1962 recording sounds - and even looks - like a Clementi piano. What I haven't heard, however, is a Clementi piano played as beautifully as Newmark accomplishes here - and somewhat ahead of the original instrument movement of the 1970's - 80's. The Reger discs present multiple problems when making transfers - both as a result of the pressings and the sound of the recordings themselves. Therefore, a major "face-lift" (otherwise known as "remastering") has been necessary for these wonderful performances. ________________________________________ LP transfers of above material.
