The problem, however, is that Valenti's contribution is for the most part inaudible - but not totally inaudible. For example, if one listens at the very beginning and throughout the wonderfully performed Andante of Concerto No. 2, Valenti's harpsichord is clearly - though softly - to be heard. (Other places where Valenti is audible is left for the listeners of these recordings to discover for themselves - but these places do exist.) These recordings have sometimes been described as "live" but they were not made during the actual concerts themselves - rather after the concerts in the dining hall of a local school. In spite of their many flaws in all directions (a book could probably written about them - if this hasn't already been done), these performances remain after all these years an uplifting experience to hear. And another thing is also certain: we don't have a surplus of such uplifting experiences falling out of the skies these days. _________________________________________ LP transfers of above material.
