About the Hosts

James Brown
Host

For more than 30 years, the Emmy® Award winning James Brown has been one of the most recognizable and respected sportscasters in the U.S. As host of INSIDE THE NFL, JB leads the analysts and special guests with class and knowledge, infused with a touch of his trademark humor. The always professional Brown brings a unique perspective to the set while guiding the flow of the conversation on the sports’ hottest topics between the insightful Simms and Collinsworth.

Brown has also hosted CBS Television Network's NFL pre-game show, THE NFL TODAY, since 2006 after serving as host for “FOX NFL Sunday" for 12 years. The former Harvard University All-American basketball player initially joined CBS Sports in 1984 where he served as play-by-play announcer for the network's NFL and college basketball coverage as well as reporter for the NBA Finals. In addition to his current NFL work with CBS and INSIDE THE NFL, Brown serves as play-by-play announcer for the network's coverage of college basketball, including the NCAA tournament. In 2010, he was named "Best Studio Host of the Decade" by Sports Illustrated.

Phil Simms
Analyst

As a quarterback, Phil Simms played in two Super Bowls, guiding the New York Giants to titles in 1987 and 1991 and earning MVP honors in Super Bowl XXI (’87). As a broadcaster, the 15-year NFL veteran has called six Super Bowls and established himself as one of the most respected analysts in the industry. Simms serves as analyst on INSIDE THE NFL alongside Cris Collinsworth and host James Brown, a role he has had since the award-winning program debuted on SHOWTIME in 2008.

Simms joined CBS Sports in January 1998 as lead analyst for CBS Television Network's coverage of the NFL alongside play-by-play man Jim Nantz. The former All-Pro quarterback also called games for NBC, including two Super Bowls, prior to joining CBS.

Cris Collinsworth
Analyst

A Pro-Bowler on the field and off, Cris Collinsworth enjoyed a sensational career as an NFL wide receiver with the Cincinnati Bengals before making a smooth transition to sports broadcasting. A three-time Pro Bowler during an eight-year career, Collinsworth has had an equally impressive tenure in the broadcasting booth – the former Florida Gator has earned 13 Emmy® Awards, including a record eight for Outstanding Sports Studio Analyst, making him one of the most honored studio analysts in sports television.

Collinsworth's TV career began when he joined the legendary program INSIDE THE NFL in 1989, making him the most tenured of the SHOWTIME cast. In 2009, Collinsworth was named lead game analyst for NBC Sports, replacing icon John Madden to join Al Michaels on the Sunday Night Football broadcasts.
