Click on picture above for more information on x265 video and how to play it.

Note : x265 playback is CPU intensive and larger displays increase the CPU load. Refer to your CPU usage to see how your hardware is coping. If x265 playback jitters but x264 is smooth then you may need to upgrade your hardware or use a different application to play x265. Trying a different application in the first instance is easier and much less expensive.

thump_upI can personally recommend Daum PotPlayer or Media Player Classic - Home Cinema for Windows.thump_up

The latest "Nightly Build" of VLC Media Player has been suggested for non-Windows platforms.

Please ask or do some research before rating or commenting negatively regarding playback issues.

*** Also please note that there is a well documented community forum topic about problems with torrent links from torcache. I've had torrents not making it on to torcache and some that were there one day, disappearing the next. So if the "Download Torrent" button returns a "No torrent found" problem, then try the Magnet Link download button. This should work. If not please let me know via a PM and I'll try re-uploading the torrent file to torcache.***

Thanks, and now an award winning movie about the contribution despite discrimination of colonial French forces during WW2.

Subtitles: English

During World War II, muslims from the North African French colonies are enlisted to fight for a motherland, France, none of them had seen. Commanded by their tough Sergeant, Martinez, we follow: Abdelkader, a corporal and budding intellectual with a keen sense of injustice who has leadership qualities and seeks promotion and recognition; Messaoud, a crack shot, who falls in love in Provence with a French woman, Irène, who loves him back; Said, a servile and illiterate Private happy to serve his sergeant; and Yassir fighting together with his brother to raise money. Through the campaigns in Italy, France and Alsace, the men fight with courage against a backdrop of small and large indignities: French soldiers get better food, leave to visit their families, and promotions. The Arab soldiers are shamefully discriminated against and treated as 2nd class citizens making a mockery of the promise of liberty, equality, and fraternity.

Historical Context (Wikipedia Extract):

While each has his own motives, these native Africans have enlisted to fight for a France they have never seen. In the words of Le Chant des Africains the four actors sing within the film, "we come from the colonies to save the motherland, we come from afar to die, we are the men of Africa." The film shows a complex depiction of their treatment in an army organisation prejudiced in favour of the European French.

The discrimination by the French authorities against these soldiers continued as successive French governments froze the war pensions of these indigenous veterans when their countries became independent. The closing credits of the film state that, despite a ruling that war pensions should be paid in full, successive French administrations since 2002 had not done so. It was only after the film's release that government policy was changed to bring foreign combatant pensions into line with what French veterans are paid. But, as of 2010, no war pension arrears (almost 40 years) had been considered.
