iLife is a software suite from Apple Inc. for Mac OS X. The suite consists of iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD, GarageBand, and iWeb, which are for organizing, viewing and publishing digital content (pictures, movies, music, and web pages).iLife '09 was announced in January 2009 and requires Mac OS X 10.5.6 or later.

- iPhoto is a photograph organizer and editor that lets users store, view, edit, and share their digital photos. iPhoto allows its user to create photo albums to display pictures on the Internet or on CD, create slideshows for instant on-computer presentation, construct calendars and greetings cards from photographs, and the ability to "photocast" photo albums. iPhoto can also import from most digital cameras with no drivers required (built into Mac OS X by default).

- iMovie is a video editor that can be used with digital video. The process of film capture by a digital camera via FireWire is automated, with iMovie allowing users to chop up their videos, add special effects, and reorganize them. It is also compatible with flash MPEG 4 cameras, AVCHD camcorders, HDV cameras, and the Apple iSight. Photographs may also be used, and a soundtrack may be added with tracks in the iTunes music library. These can then be exported into a variety of viewable formats, including Apple's QuickTime Player.

- iDVD integrates with iMovie to allow the burning of movies onto a DVD, including custom menus based on themes (many of which make use of the content of the movies) and custom chapter points. It also contains the MPEG2 encoder functionality needed to produce DVD-compatible content. Each new version adds more menu themes. There is no support for Blu-ray burning in the current version of iDVD. In iLife '09, iDVD was not updated.

- GarageBand is a music-creation and podcasting application that includes over 1,000 pre-recorded loops. The program also supports software instruments and importation from real instruments, such as guitars and keyboards. In iLife '09, GarageBand sells pre-recorded instrument lessons made by famous artists.

- iWeb is a product that was released at the Macworld Conference & Expo on January 10, 2006. This product provides the ability to share content from the other iLife applications using Apple templates, and with one-click uploading to MobileMe (previously called .Mac). The application also allows users to create links to their own podcasts and photocasts from the webage. This is the latest application added to the iLife suite.

- The Apple MobileMe Web Gallery is a feature designed for easy photo sharing on the Mac platform. It allows users to create event or photo albums using the Web Gallery of their MobileMe account, and allows them to show their photos with visitors, who may also download the images and upload their own. This feature is accessible directly through iLife (iMovie, iPhoto, and iWeb) allowing users to upload without their web browser.

iWork is a suite of applications created by Apple Inc. It contains Pages, a word processing and desktop publishing application, Keynote, a presentation package, and Numbers, a spreadsheet application. Although iWork is billed by Apple as "a successor to AppleWorks", it does not replicate

the functionality of AppleWorks's database and drawing tools. iWork is designed to integrate with existing applications from Apple's iLife suite.

- Pages is a word processing and page layout application with an emphasis on visual appeal. It comes with a set of Apple-designed templates for documents including:

   * Newsletters

   * Journals

   * Invitations

   * Stationery

   * Résumés

   * Education Projects

   * Marketing Projects

Pages incorporates a media browser for inserting pictures, music, and video from iPhoto, iTunes, and iMovie. Pages allows the user to save or import formats including:

   * Pages documents (.pages)

   * Microsoft Word files (.doc)

   * Portable Document Format files (.pdf)

   * Web Pages (.html) (removed in iWork '0image

   * Rich Text Format (.rtf)

   * Plain Text Format (.txt)

- Keynote is a slideshow application with an emphasis on presentation. It is similar in many ways to Microsoft's PowerPoint, but contains several features native to the iWork suite. Keynote makes use of iLife integration by including a media browser for inserting pictures, music, and video from iPhoto, iTunes, and iMovie. Keynote also features the ability to include animation in slideshow presentations. Keynote is quite versatile in its ability to recognize and save to many formats, including:

   * Keynote presentations (.key)

   * Microsoft PowerPoint presentations (.ppt)

   * QuickTime movies (.mov), which may be interactive depending on one's choice.

   * Basic HTML, which allows the presentation to be played in multiple browsers.,

   * iPod, allows for presentations to be transferred directly to a portable device.

(play back comes only in automatic timing or a recorded timing),

   * PDF Acrobat PDF document (.pdf)

   * Import any image format recognized by QuickTime, export several image formats

(.jpg, .png or .tiff)

- Numbers is a spreadsheet application that was added in iWork '08. It incorporates features such as intelligent tables, a flexible canvas and interactive printing.It is the first spreadsheet application developed by Apple since AppleWorks.

- iWork.com is a beta service which enables iWork users to upload their documents to iWork.com servers so that it can be shared with others who can download or give feedback to the document. iWork.com is currently free as a beta but will be a subscription based service as iWork.com is completed.
