DescriptionICDL Certification ICDL programs are for anyone who wishes to become fully competent in the use of a computer and common applications. Each ICDL module provides a practical program of up-to-date skills and knowledge areas which are validated by a test. What are ICDL Certification Programs? ICDL certification programs consist of modules which define the skills and competencies necessary to be a proficient user of a computer and common computer applications. Each ICDL module provides a practical program of up-to-date skills and knowledge areas which are validated by a test. There are seven ICDL modules in total. ICDL Base Certification (previously ICDL Start): For an individual to achieve a solid base of skills and knowledge, therefore attaining a minimum level of digital literacy, we recommend that candidates complete and attain certification in a minimum of four ICDL modules to achieve ICDL Base, which represents the base standard of digital literacy. Although these are the recommended modules, other combinations of four modules are acceptable. ICDL Standard Certification (previously ICDL): ICDL Standard is the international standard in end-user computer skills. Our collective experience in implementing certification programs across education systems and government administrations has demonstrated that for a recommended level of Information Communication Technology (ICT) competence to be achieved which would enable effective employability, an ICDL Standard Certification is appropriate. To receive the ICDL Standard Certificate, which represents the standard of digital competence, seven modules must be taken. ICDL Base: ICDL Module 2 - Using Computer and Managing Files (to be replaced by Computer Essentials in 2013) ICDL Module 3 - Word Processing ICDL Module 4 - Spreadsheets ICDL Module 7- Web Browsing & Communications (to be replaced by Online Essentials in 2013) - ICDL Standard = (ICDL Base + 3 additional modules) ICDL Module 1 - Concepts of ICT (to be replaced by Computer Essentials in 2013) ICDL Module 5 - Using Databases ICDL Module 6 - Presentations ICDL Module 8 - Information Secu .
