Description
We've provided the first OVA with a completely new translation that stays 100% faithful to the manga and the 1999 TV anime. We've gone through every line of dialogue for every episode and corrected nearly all grammatical errors, along with translation inconsistencies present in most other fan-translation incarnations. We've methodically cross-referenced our manga volumes to create as much of a canon experience as possible. All terminology stays faithful to the manga and the 1999 TV anime. So things like character and location names, along with abilities and such. Mistranslated nouns are quite common with fan-translations, similar to how some scanlations would refer to Gyro as Jairo. Jairo is a literal transliteration of the word "Gyro" in Japanese; his name should be Gyro. It's the same with Kite being called Kaito. So for example: -Kuroro/Danchou is now referred to as just Chrollo. "Danchou" is not this character's name, it's his title. In addition, "Kuroro" is not proper transliteration, it's just straight romaji. -Genei Ryodan is now referred to as the Phantom Troupe (or just abbreviated as Troupe in some instances). It's the official English translation that both Viz and Crunchyroll had adopted. "Genei Ryodan" is a sort of double entendre. 団 (Dan) is used in Japanese to denote an organization, but it is also frequently used to denote a circus troupe. 旅 (Ryo) is more frequently read as "tabi," which essentially means "to travel"--it's another word that is associated with the circus. But combined, they form "Ryodan"--brigade. Thus, Phantom Troupe. Re-uploaded with improved encodes from our own R2 DVD collection.
