Description

A rare album that was released on the Takoma label in 1970. This self-titled work is the only record from this community-based band from Bloomington, Indiana and was never re-released on vinyl or CD.

The album is an excellent example of folk-blues with great vocals and strong instrumental parts. The songs are all original and some are really outstanding, like Bulldozer Blues and Maine. The liner notes mention that two other (unknown) groups used to play with Homegas: Greazy Green and Stoney Lonesome before their house was destroyed by fire.

Perhaps ironically, my copy of this album was destroyed in a storage fire, but not before I had copied it to cassette. I am posting it because a fine vocalist from this band, David Satterfield, taught me guitar in Bloomington in 1976, and I was mesmerized by his voice. I recently learned that he died in 2000 and thinking of him brought the album back to mind.

Full of cracks and pops, the way vinyl should be... I hope someone can enjoy this as well.
