Description
East Indian
This is the one hour program from Hearts of Space Radio Show first broadcast on the weekend of June 22, 2007. It includes East Indian music performed on traditional East Indian instruments. I must confess when I saw the title of this program, I was thinking of it in terms of "Indian Summer" - a traditional phrase used in the USA to refer to the Fall Season - which brings up in my mind, at least, thoughts of haystacks, pumpkins, and Halloween. I was in error... the producer's mind was on the summer months, and the music of India - therefore "Indian" .... and Summer Solstice. Ahh well, the music is lovely anyway. Split to MP3s at VBR. Voiceovers suppressed. Tracklist and program notes included, as usual. Program Notes by Stephen Hill, Producer The buttery softness of the bansuri flute is a good indication that we're headed into the dreamy, sensual world of Indian music this time. When it comes to quietly ecstatic, subtly skillful music making, Indian classical music is hard to beat; these days it's often enhanced by electronics and a bit of studio magic. And here at the official beginning of summer, it's just the thing to get you in tune...and flowing...with the season. Sharing Widget |
