In the working class neighborhood of God's Pocket, the mad stepson Mickey Scarpato (Philip Seymour Hoffman) is killed in an accident at a construction site. He quickly tries to bury the body to get rid of the problem but a local journalist starts searching for the truth behind the facts, making matters worse.
