Description
Glen Velez - Assyrian Rose
Year: 1989 Label: CMP Total time: 46:24 Bitrate: 320 kbps Assyrian Rose continues the style he developed on his earlier CMP release Seven Heaven, with Layne Redmond helping out on various frame drums and Steve Gorn playing bansuri and South American flutes. They are joined by Jon Clark on French horn and Howard Levy on harmonica and piano, adding a greater melodic range to the music. Glen plays his usual variety of frame drums (from Spain and Morocco), Egyptian tambourine and various other percussion instruments. The result is a cross-cultural potpourri of earth-jazz stylings, with Glen's pulsating rhythms leading. The album ends with a solo on one of Glen's tambourines, revealing his mastery of this instrument that plays such a central role in Arabic music. ~ AMG Personnel: Glen Velez (Drums and Percussion) Layne Redmond (Percussion and Voice) Steve Gorn (Bamboo Flute and Flute) John Clark (French Horn) Howard Levy (Harmonica and Piano) Glen Velez - Assyrian Rose Tracks: 01 Blue Castle (Glen Velez) 8:08 02 Offering to Anubis (Glen Velez/Steve Gorn) 2:25 03 Assyrian Rose (Glen Velez) 7:13 04 Drala (Glen Velez/Steve Gorn) 9:15 05 Amazonas (Glen Velez/Steve Gorn) 9:25 06 Wren Chant (Glen Velez) 5:29 07 Silver Lining (Glen Velez) 4:26 Sharing Widget |
