Background info for the series/manga:

Inokuma Yawara wants above all to be a normal high school girl, although she's been trained in judo by her grandfather (8th Dan) Jigoro for years. He often tricks Yawara into participating in matches and tournaments against her will. His goal for her? "To Win the Gold Medal in the Olympics and be awarded the National Medal of Honor." The trouble starts for Yawara when she gains the interest of a sports reporter in a slump, Matsuda, who happens to witness her stopping a purse thief with a simple judo throw. Enter her new rival in judo, Sayaka Honami, and a rival for Yawara's affection (the playboy Kazamatsuri), and Yawara! becomes the comedy, drama, and "romance" story everyone should see!
