Folk Hibernia BBC TV (2007)
This documentary was the second produced by BBC Television about folk music. The first was a three part series called "Folk Britannia" (see my other torrents) about the history of English folk music and its revival in the 1950s/60s and its development to the modern day. This documentary "Folk Hibernia" is an additional episode about the history and rivival of Irish folk music. (1 hour 29 mins), The revival of Irish folk music, which 60 years ago was virtually unheard abroad, and how it has given the world a sense of Ireland and the country a sense of itself. With contributions from Christy Moore, Paddy Moloney of the Chieftains, Ronnie Drew of the Dubliners, Liam Clancy of the Clancy Brothers, Johnny Moynihan of Sweeney's Men and Shane MacGowan of the Pogues. If you don't know much about British/Irish folk music but want to learn more then take a look at these documentaries. This folk music 101. Please enjoy. Sharing Widget |
