First Night of the Proms 2009

Here is the BBC TV broadcast of the First Night of the Proms.

I will be compiling a personal highlights audio selection (ignoring some of the newly commissioned dross and concentrating on orchestral music) and will upload in due course. The only other Prom that I will definitely be uploading will be the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra Prom of July 29.



I will however accept requests or at least point you in the right direction. A couple of years ago I did a Birtwistle/Boulez for someone. It was atrocious but the requester was happy. There were not many completions though.



The highlight of the first night was a rare performance of Psalm 150 by Anton Bruckner. This was wonderful, though much of the rest is very good too.
