In 1957, the BBC launched a new monthly programme about astronomy "The Sky At Night". Its unlikely choice of presenter was an eccentric, wild haired writer (he declined to be described as an astronomer, escribing himself as a journalisrt and musician) Patrick Moore. This is the story of how Moore came to present the programme, as he did until his death in 2012, becoming a genuine "National Treasure" along the way.
