FAB Subtitler Professional Edition is a software package for PC that can be can be used to:

- Prepare subtitles
- Read timecode with a timecode reader
- Display video on PC monitor and record video to local hard disk in WMV format
convert between different subtitle file formats
- Record open subtitles to tape (insertion into composite/component/SDI/HD-SDI video)
- Transmit subtitles manually or synchronized with timecode to external subtitle insertion units
- Convert subtitles into DVD, Blu-ray & Digital Cinema (DCIM) format
- Insert open subtitles into WMV files
- Insert teletext and DVB subtitles into TS (transport stream) files
- Decode teletext subtitles from video input and create a subtitle file with timecode
- Export open subtitles in AAF format which can be imported into Adobe Premiere
- Export open subtitles in MOV format which can be imported into Avid and Final Cut Pro
- Export open subtitles in XML format which can be imported into Final Cut Pro or for Flash Player

All languages supported by Windows are supported by FAB Subtitler incl. Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Hebrew, Arabic, Cyrillic, Greek and more.

User profiles

- The configuration settings are user based
- Settings can be stored to file and loaded at any time so that one user can have instant access to different configurations. This way one configuration can also be copied easily to other workstations

Entry of timecode

- Frame accurate timecode entry for each subtitle by using the keyboard (F1 and F2 predefined). The out timecode is generally set automatically depending on the length of the text but it can be changed.
- Quick entry by running the tape/media file and entering timecode with INS (in) and DEL (out) keys on the keyboard while the tape is running.
- Mouse based entry on the audio waveform display when using video files

- Insertion of DVB bitmap subtitles (ETSI 300743) into transport stream (TS) files
An additional stream with user definable PID is added into the transport stream file. Any format of the video file (MPEG2/MPEG4/H.264/...) is supported.

- Insertion of Teletext subtitles (ETSI 300706) into transport stream (TS) files
