The PBS original documentary Exploring Space: The Quest for Life carries viewers into a two-hour probe of some of the universe's most overwhelming enigmas. The program begins by addressing the question "How did life on Earth originate -- via Darwinian evolution and natural selection that may have followed The Big Bang, or via some higher power?"

The program then segues into the question of extraterrestrial life on other planets. It subsequently asks if it will ever be possible for homo sapiens to settle and thrive on other planets outside of our own Earth. Employing extensive interviews with scientists and CG-animated sequences that carry audiences into the far reaches of space, Exploring Space brings to full visual and intellectual life questions that have plagued mankind for eons.


People have been looking to the stars for millennia, but it wasn't until the technological advancements of the 20th century that humans finally had the means to quench their thirst for knowledge of the universe.
