TRAMA:

Ispirato da una serie di incredibili eventi accaduti durante una pericolosa spedizione volta a raggiungere la vetta della montagna più alta del mondo, Everest documenta le avversità del viaggio di due diverse spedizioni sfidate oltre i loro limiti da una delle più feroci tempeste di neve mai affrontate dall'uomo.
Un gruppo è formato da persone eterogenee che si sono affidate alla guida di Rob Hall dell'Adventure Consultants, la sua società. Rob Hall è sposato con Jan, che è in attesa di una figlia. Un altro gruppo è formato dall'alpinista Scott Fischer per una spedizione turistica. Arrivati al campo base vi trovano altri gruppi che complicano ulteriormente la spedizione.
Per semplificare la scalata, Rob e Scott decidono di collaborare e fissano la partenza per il 10 maggio 1996. Lungo la scalata, alcuni clienti dimostrano la loro poca preparazione oltre a problemi organizzativi, ritardando così l'arrivo sulla vetta. Ad un tratto però si scatena un'improvvisa tempesta che metterá in grave difficoltá gli scalatori che dovranno fronteggiare ostacoli al limite dell'impossibile; così l'ossessione di una vita intera si trasforma in una lotta mozzafiato per la sopravvivenza. Alcuni di loro, in particolare Rob Hall, non ce la fanno, mentre l'alpinista Beck Weathers riesce, dopo aver passato una notte all'addiaccio, a tornare al campo dove viene recuperato da un Ecureuil, che per la prima volta ha raggiunto tale quota. Beck Weathers sopravvisse a tale avventura perdendo però l'uso di entrambe le mani e del naso.

STORYLINE:

On the morning of May 10, 1996, climbers from two commercial expeditions start their final ascent toward the summit of Mount Everest, the highest point on Earth. With little warning, a violent storm strikes the mountain, engulfing the adventurers in one of the fiercest blizzards ever encountered by man. Challenged by the harshest conditions imaginable, the teams must endure blistering winds and freezing temperatures in an epic battle to survive against nearly impossible odds.
