Your Humax or USB Port on your Tv etc..etc.. will not be capable of playing such new technology yet, but in the future playback support will be widespread, it just takes time for it to filter through to the Consumer. You may recall that this was also the case with nearlly all the Video Codecs that we have become accustomed to using today, like AVC x264 etc..etc... Here is a list of Media players with links to them, you do not need all of them, the list is there to provide you with variety so that you can chose the player that suits you ... Note: Please be wary of any extra bloatware that may be incorporated into any of the installers, which normally comes with a few extra boxes that are pre-ticked at some point during the install process, but if you untick those boxes you can skip the Bloatware, which is what you really want anyway ?? And even if I happen to download a file that is Out Of Sync I can adjust the Sync to compensate via the adjustment feature in Daum Pot Player. However I mostly use Light Alloy to playback 90% of my Files... But I am very impressed with the Smooth Playback and overall look of "Kodi", to give an example My Daughter was having trouble playing the files on her pc, Playback was jittery through all the normal players, and 1080p File Playback was a Joke, But once I installed Kodi she found that all those isssues were completely gone, and She now watches all her video's through Kodi. It is nice to have a happy Daughter ......... Lol As for Encoding with Hevc, I have only encoded files that I get from Dvd's that I get from my Local library, and I have only ever used "Handbrake". But I have used it in both a Linux Mint [http://www.linuxmint.com/index.php] and a Windows Framework I found that i could make more adjustments to the Resolution under the Linux Framework, but getting your Handbrake fully up-to date does require using the terminal and having a bit of Sudo Apt etc..etc.. Know how Well I hope all this knowledge can help you to start making good use of this great new Technology, and enjoy all the benefits it can provide ... Here is the Wikipedia Link to Hevc as well - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_Efficiency_Video_Coding Just in case you wanted to know even more .. lol All The Best From Captainwest !!!
