The Encyclopedia addresses culture across a broad spectrum of psychological perspectives and includes topics that are relevant to social psychology, cognitive psychology, environmental psychology, cross-cultural psychology, and clinical psychology. 23 Dr. Jackson received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Alabama in 1995. Following an APA-approved Clinical Internship at Children’s Hospital in Tulsa, OK, she joined the faculty of the University of Kansas. She is currently an Associate Professor of Psychology and Applied Behavioral Science, and the Associate Director of the KU Child and Family Services Clinic. Dr. Jackson is the author or co-author of many highly cited papers and chapters in her areas of study—the impact of trauma on youth mental health and children’s risk and resilience. Her empirical work is supported by numerous grants and research contracts, including an R01 from the National Institutes of Mental Health. Jackson serves on the Editorial Board of Professional Psychology: Research and Practice and the Journal of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology. She is also the editor of the Encyclopedia of Multicultural Psychology. Dr. Jackson serves on the Board of the Society of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology (Division 53 of APA), and serves on the Board of the Society for Child and Family Policy and Practice (Section on Child Maltreatment). Dr. Jackson has received University accolades for her teaching and mentoring, including the Outstanding Graduate Teacher Award from the Center for Teaching Excellence (2005) and the Kemper Foundation Teaching Award (2004).
