Though I'm more of a documentary type of person and I don't have much knowledge of how Egyptian history has been discovered and deciphered, I still think this is quite nice to watch to fill some dull moments in your life.
The BBC has not the reputation to make things up or to put history in an overly nationalistic framework, so I have no reason to seriously question the historicity of the events. But the romanticizing of the events may not be the right method to convey 'truths' because they may need to fill in gaps to make a nice story. So for good historical references I'd look for something else than this series (I can't give one at this current time though), but I have no doubt to question the factual accuracy of this series. For to cal it all bogus one has to come up with good evidence I think.
