i've found that a lot of games, particularly ones that link u to websites when you finish will come up on antipest apps as a back door/trojan when technically that is what the coding is, but isn't a virus per sae. Most games that give me this kind of problem requires either one of two solutions depending on how much of an attack dog your anitpest app is. Either 1) turn it off completely, not even running in background or standby if it will let you, or 2) uninstall the antipest program until you finish the game and then reinstall.
Most ppl freak out at this idea but let me clue you into some little known truths that usually only computer gurus know about. Used to be to keep your machine squeeky clean you had to have working in concert firewall, antipest app, antispam/ads app, and some sort of registry cleaner. What most folks don't know is the reason you had to have an antipest app was because firewalls didn't catch most of the stuff before it gets on your machine. Antipest is to get it off once its in there.\n
Few years back a little bitty software company in Silicon Valley developed the best firewall there ever was and still is. The big boys at Microshaft did something underhanded (yeah like thats a surprise,) and spread propaganda about that their product was faulty and fraudulent which wasn't true. It drove the price of the company stock down till Microshaft could leverage buy them out. Once they did they took that firewall and spiffed it up and it is the benchmark standard every OS uses from Windows 7 and newer.\n
If you have an OS that is Win7 or newer with all the updates current, you really never ever need antipest again. Unless of course you do a lot of downloading of things like porn and music. Otherwise you'll find you never need to use antipest.\n
I have been running on my machine that came with Win7 only Malwarebytes, Spybot, Tuneup Utilities and the firewalls that came with Win7 and for over 3 years, I do not have any kind of antipest app at all and have never needed it. I have never had a virus of any kind in all that time. What medium to low risk stuff that does get through, those programs clean up to spotless. \n
Once in a great while I have to uninstall my registry cleaner so it doesn't interefere (a time management game called Avalon needed me to do that so it would play.) But the point of having yearly license subscriptions is so you can uninstall and reinstall them the entire year without problem. If you do encounter a problem doing this, then it's time to change your brand of antipest. Couple of the big name companies are notorious for screwing up machines and being over zealous in false pest reporting, Two of the companies are mentioned in previous posts. \n
So don't freak out if you need to uninstall your antipest app in order for your games to play. Keep your firewalls up to date, run your other clean up apps weekly and you should be able to play what ever you want to interference free.\n
Who am I to give out this kind of advice? I'm a retired T5 Master System Analyst for my local stage hands union and kept all of the states theater computers and $16 million opera house super computers squeeky clean for over 30 yrs. I still have up to date current certs in Unix, Lenox, C+, C++. Java, C# and currently learning LSL, that's who lol. \n
