Keď Štikút a jeho verný drak Bezzubý zachránia obyvateľov ostrova Berk a porazia Červenú Smrť, Vikingov z Berku ich skutky inšpirujú a rozhodnú sa uzavrieť s drakmi mier. Štikút však rýchlo zisťuje, že spolužitie ignorantských Vikingov a hrozivých drakov má ďaleko od dokonalosti a slabá aliancia môže kedykoľvek zaniknúť. Aby vyriešil tento problém, Štikútov otec Chladnobrv Obrovský sa rozhodne založiť na ostrove Dračiu Akadémiu, kde sa jeho syn spolu s priateľmi budú vzdelávať a učiť sa o drakoch. Samozrejme, nevrlí pochybovači ako Soplinos či zákerní podliaci ako Alvin Zradný zasvätia svoj ďalší život zničeniu novootvorenej Akadémie. Mladí Vikingovia z Berku a ich draci sa rozhodnú nové spojenectvo ochrániť za každú cenu.
