Het is de dag van de NFL Draft en Sonny Weaver Jr. (Kevin Costner), manager
van de Cleveland Browns, probeert een veelbelovende speler te vergaren die
zijn huidige team mogelijk van de ondergang kan redden. Tijdens deze dag,
waarbij teams de mogelijkheid krijgen om nieuw talent te contracteren
rechtstreeks uit de universiteit, komt Sonny erachter dat hij niet de enige
is die dit aankomende talent – de keuze die bovenaan zijn Draft lijst staat
op ’t oog heeft. Naarmate de dag vordert moet Sonny de moeilijke keuze maken
welke spelers hij uit zijn huidige team wel hiervoor kwijt wil, en of deze
gewilde speler zijn uiteindelijke prijs wel waard is.

It's draft day in the NFL and as general manager of the Cleveland Browns,
Sonny is forced to come up with a big move. After trading for the number one
pick, Sonny has to choose between a lower-ranked linebacker with a questionable
past or a celebrated quarterback with a questionable future. All the while,
Sonny is walking in the footsteps of his father and personal complications force
their way to the surface.
