Het verhaal begint in Parijs waar Susan, de zus van Bailey, de charismatische
Fransman Jacques ontmoet. Susan nodigt hem uit voor lunch waarna ze hem inhuurt
als gids zolang ze in de stad is. Ondertussen in New Jersey zijn de
zielsverwanten Bailey en Mary nog steeds goede vrienden nadat een relatie in
hun jeugd abrupt eindigde. Nu ze getrouwd is met Wiley en de moeder is van een
autistische zoon begint Mary's huwelijk af te brokkelen. Haar vriendschap met
Bailey biedt haar de troost waaraan het haar in haar huwelijk ontbreekt. Wanneer
een Franse vreemdeling aan Bailey's deur staat met een brief van zijn zus Susan,
het nieuws dat hij de weduwnaar is van Susan en de erfenis komt claimen, krijgen
de zaken een andere wending.

The late James Gandolfini gives a captivating performance as a working stiff
desperate to catch a break in this atmospheric drama set on the New Jersey shore.
Although he works in an amusement park, life isn't much fun for Bailey. Living
next door to his only true love is hard enough. But knowing she is unhappily
married to his boss makes it even worse. So the last thing he needs to see is a
smiling Frenchman bearing more bad news. Former acting coach Harold Guskin makes
his directing debut with a poignant study of bottled emotions and unfulfilled
dreams.
