Dorothy Dunnett - Lymond Chronicles + The House of Niccolo [Nicator] - Mobi!

Amazing, amazing series of historical fiction. One of the best I've read. The author recommends first reading the Lymond Chronicles, and afterwards the House of Niccolo. The first part of the very first book of the Lymond Chronicles is pretty hard to get through due to the writing style, which is a little unusual. Stick with it and you'll probably also have a new favourite series :)
