Early on, the highly talented composer Delalande attended one of the popular positions at the royal court of Louis XIV.He owed his first position to winning a competition which marks the beginning of his forty year career. As Surintendant de la Musique de la Chambre, he composed music for the large-scale, solemn suppers of the king who rather resembled a ritual than a pure meal. This table music, only handed down in two upper voices, has now been attended by the interpreter and researcher Jörg Jacobi. He reconstructed the missing parts, and the renowned Hamburg ensemble, intends this wonderful music for the first time ever in its original five-part version.
