Description
"Death of a Detective"
Poole is joined on the island by some of his old university friends - Sasha Moore (Helen Baxendale), James Moore, Roger Sadler (Tim Dutton) and Angela Birkett (Sophie Thompson) - who are there for a reunion. The party is brought to an abrupt halt when Poole himself is somehow brutally murdered with an ice pick in full view of the group. The death of Poole leads to the arrival of Detective Inspector Humphrey Goodman (Kris Marshall), to help the team solve the murder. With his own set of methods, Goodman has to adjust to his new environment and solve the clues left by Poole to his own murder. "The Wrong Man" A film-crew filming a zombie film turns to real horror when the stand-in for leading actress Lexi Cunningham (Michelle Ryan) is poisoned. Goodman realizes that the victim was not the one the murderer intended, as the poison meant for Lexi, hidden inside chocolates, was consumed by the stand-in instead. Goodman realizes that the chocolates could only have been placed there before shooting started, and there were only three people on the set when the box was delivered: director Carl Collins (Rhys Thomas), screenwriter Arnold Finch (Peter Davison), and runner Susie Jenkins (Hannah Tointon). "An Artistic Murder" DI Goodman and the team are called to investigate the death of an old school friend of Fidel’s, Carlton Paris (Steven Cole), who has been shot at his home. Last seen at an art viewing held at a gallery owned by connoisseur Leo Pascal (Adrian Scarborough), Carlton was in attendance with wealthy older woman, Dorothy Foster (Sharon Small). Witnesses also claim to have seen Carlton having an altercation with Marc Campese (Tristan Gemmill), the owner of private member’s club, "The Reef Club". Humphrey and the team start analysing their suspects, including Judge Stone (Josette Simon). "Ye of Little Faith" DI Goodman and the team are called to a hotel to investigate the death of air stewardess Natasha Thiebert (Felicite Du Jeu), who appears to have been poisoned during the crew’s overnight stay on the island. With a lack of evidence as to how Natasha was killed, the team is left to question all of her colleagues, including suave pilot Adam Frost (Raza Jaffrey), gambling addict Paul Bevans (Daniel Lapaine), flight attendant Max Leigh (Chris Geere) and fellow-stewardess Helen Walker (Sophie Colquhoun), plus hotel receptionist Simone Magon (Kathryn Drysdale). "Political Suicide" Saint Marie’s Commerce Minister, Jacob Doran (Simon Shepherd), is found shot dead in his home, apparently having committed suicide shortly after news broke of his affair with a young intern, Lena Bell (Nina Toussaint-White). Humphrey suspects murder despite an authentic suicide note. Suspects include Doran's wife Charlotte (Haydn Gwynne), son Drew (James Musgrave), his press secretary Theo Frazier (Eriq Ebouaney) and Lena Bell. Tyre tracks outside implicate another suspect, Camille's father Marlon Croft (Clarke Peters), who she has not seen for 25 years. "The Early Bird" DI Goodman and the team are called in to investigate in the Saint Marie jungle, when a group of birdwatchers lead by Captain Jack (Paul Barber) discover one of their party murdered. The group find fellow ornithologist Marc Talbot (Richard Huw) stabbed with his own knife. Humphrey is fascinated by the case when it is revealed that all of the suspects were in sight of each other when the crime occurred. They begin at wondering how anyone could have had time to kill Marc in the few minutes between his leaving camp in plain sight and being murdered. The main suspect is Marc Webster (William Beck). "The Man With The Golden Gun" Wealthy property developer Alexander Jackson (Joseph Marcell) is murdered at his mansion on Sebestien Island. With his mansion being the only home on the island, described as his "Fortress of Solitude", the only suspects are his three children, Joseph, Terrance (Jimmy Akingbola) and Anna (Nikki Amuka-Bird) his personal assistant, and his housekeeper. An approaching hurricane strands the team on the island overnight with the killer. With no cellphone coverage and the telephone line down, the team go back to basics and Fidel improvises forensic tests on the evidence gathered. "Rue Morgue" Former surgeon Emma Redding is found dead from an overdose of pills in her locked room at a retirement home. From the mounting evidence Goodman agrees with Camille that she was in fact murdered. The main suspects are fellow residents Jim Chandler (Phil Davis) and David Whitton (Phillip Jackson), and the manager of the home, Sylvain (Sarah Niles). The arrival of Goodman's estranged wife Sally (Morven Christie) on the island seeking a reconciliation distracts him from solving the case and how the murderer administered the overdose and left the locked room.
