Description
Dreamy, shimmery and just a wee bit 'shoegaze', this collection of guitar loops and chords features an
exorbitant amount of delay and reverb, mostly obscuring any actual fiddly note stuff. Five guitars, a bunch of pedals, a couple of outboard units and some long channel and buss chains of plugins were put to use to create a set of loops across all white note keys and in four tempos (85, 95, 110 & 120bpm). The Gretsch, Fender Strat (used for chords only), Squier Tele and the Danelectro Baritone were all recorded DI through the Little Labs and CAPI VP26 preamp. The Kurzweil K2600r and Eventide Modfactor were placed in the processing chains as stereo plugins (they're kept hooked up via the patchbay and called up as external plugins). The K2600 has excellent reverbs and can has four stereo I/O routes making a sort of quad effects unit, though here is was used as a single stereo unit with a reverb or two chained up. The Hondo II guitar was recorded with the distortion/fuzz pedals in line so I could tweak the tone/settings per tempo group as the lines were recorded. Most of the processing chains involved a amp simulation (Amplitube), but not with the Hondo and distortion/fuzz pedals – this gives it a more searing synth sound. The tempo loops are all cut to play looped with not clicks, but some have been cut so that the start and end are actually contiguous and may well be mid-phase, so a clip will occur on first play – just apply a fade to the first/last instances. The chord collection features six chords per white note in two flavours: clean and distorted. The chords are as follows: major, minor, major 6 th , major 9 th , major 7 th and minor 6 th . These were made with either 3, 4 or 5 note chordings. Related Torrents
