Crobot - [2014] Something Supernatural (Size: 104.38 MB)
Description![]() In the Summer of 2011, Brandon Yeagley and Chris Bishop created Crobot. In 2012 the band’s original lineup self released their debut EP, The Legend of the Spaceborne Killer, along with a music video for the eponymous first single. Later that year, the rhythm section of the band was revamped with the addition of the Figueroa brothers on bass and drums. In 2013, Crobot was discovered by Wind-up Records, and was officially signed in December. On May 13, 2014, they released their self-titled EP, produced by legendary producer Machine (Clutch, Lamb of God, Cobra Starship, Gym Class Heroes). The EP, which features four tracks off their upcoming full-length album, was released to positive reviews. Their first single and video for “Nowhere to Hide” was debuted on Revolver on May 14, 2014 and has since hit number 16 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart as of August 2014. Also in May, Crobot was added to the 2014 lineup for Taco Bell’s Feed the Beat campaign. The band is continuing their extensive touring habits that they are known for. In 2014 alone, they have toured with Clutch, The Sword, Truckfighters, KYNG, Kill Devil Hill and more, in addition to playing festivals such as SXSW and Rock on the Range. They will be going on their first UK tour with The Virginmarys in September, 2014. Crobot describe their music as “Dirty. Groove. Rock.”, and has been compared to hard rock bands like Wolfmother, Queens of the Stone Age, Rage Against the Machine and Soundgarden. Frontman Brandon Yeagley has been praised for his power packed vocals and dynamic stage presence, guiding the band’s “undeniably magnetizing live shows.” Something Supernatural was released on October 24th, so if the following words make you hunger for its rock groovings then you can already rush out and buy it! Crobot have released a cracking blend of blues, funk, country twang and old-style rock’n’roll – music that just sits there, wiggles a bit and says “enjoy me”. If you last through half a track without tapping your foot then you need medical attention. Songs like “Chupacabra” just jump straight in and assail you with blunt force riffage, whereas gentler numbers such as “La Mano de Lucifer” lull you into a gentle, relaxed – and false – sense of ease before dropping the heaviness on you. Something Supernatural is eleven tracks of head-banging, hair-swinging delight that should go down live very well indeed. Pretty much all of them just hook you from the first few notes and won’t let go until the final chords fade. Stand-out tracks: “Cloud Spiller” is one of the more frenetic numbers and I love the chorus. “Necromancer” has a mouth organ in it. I can’t resist a bit of that.
