Summary:

This light drama was a British-made, Thames Television venture, created with a US market in mind. Setting itself up as an olde English medieval romp through the trials and tribulations of a well-to-do family, the series was filmed in Kent; Allington Castle for the exterior scenes and Penshurst Place for the interior scenes. It gained a tiny but very loyal fanbase during its short run.

Only the pilot was aired on UK television before Thames lost its franchise, and the US didn't fare much better, with only seven of the thirteen episodes being aired before Ross Perot bought the time slot for his US presidential campaign. Although it was nominated for a Primetime Emmy, subsequent cancellation of the series was officially blamed on expensive production costs. It was later picked up for broadcast in Canada, Australia, France, Japan and Norway.

His children are Armus (the eldest), Richard (the serious son), Cedric (the free spirit), and his daughter Eleanor (the strong-willed one).
