Description
I found a great description of the game Counter Strike in this article about Condition Zero, and I thought it is worth reposting:
Counter-Strike is a simple team-based FPS (first-person shooter) in which opposing teams of Terrorists and Counter-Terrorists have to try and wipe each other out whilst managing map-specific objectives, like rescuing or protecting hostages and planting or defusing bombs. Each round is slightly more strategic than something like Capture The Flag though, because whenever you die you actually remain dead - until one team is wiped out completely, or until one team completes its objective. Throw in instant headshot kills, a carefully balanced arsenal and weapon limits, monetary rewards and punishments for kills, hostage rescues, hostage kills, etc, and consistently ingenious map design, and its not too hard to understand Counter-Strike's popularity. It demands proper teamwork and less gung ho Schwarzenegger antics than its rivals, and although not quite perfect it is extremely well balanced and finely tuned, and arguably represents the pinnacle of team-based multiplayer even now. Regularly threatened by an insurgent flavour of the month FPS, Counter Strike still remains the most popular game in its genre, and is fervently supported all over the Internet. Counter Strike 1.6 Cheat Codes Here is a list of "cheat codes" for Counter Strike 1.6. Most of these are not really "cheats" in the true sense of the word but commands to change the preferences. Flash Strike - A Flash Counter Strike Game Flash Strike is a Flash game based on Counter Strike. In this game you are camping in well known maps and have to fend off hordes of enemies with your trusty M4 Rifle, the Desert Eagle as your side arm and a sniper rifle for tricky shots. Go through the maps and earn flashbangs. Great little game for those who need a quick fix of CS. Counter Strike among the top games of 2007 The Nielsen Company released its Top 10 lists for 2007, including the list for the top 10 games in the US. I'm happy to inform the CS made the list twice with regular Counter Strike in 6th position and Counter Strike: Source in the 10th position. They also note that the average CS player spends over 9 hours a week on the game. A McDonalds as Counter Strike Funny video of a McDonalds restaurant being used as the setting for a Counter Strike parody of the popular map Italy. Microsoft Releases Technology to allow a CS Match with 1000 Players Microsoft has been working on a project called DonnyBrook that will allow FPS (First Person Shooters) to support matches with hundreds and even thousands of players. Currently games like Halo and Counter Strike have limitations close to 16 - 32 players because of bandwidth matters. Keeping the game smooth requires knowing what everybody in the map is doing and refreshing this information several times per second. Related Torrents
