Saif Ali Khan, the man who has been endowing the world of Hindi cinema with his acting skills for years, comes up with his latest outing ‘Cocktail’, a rom com to allure his audiences. His lover boy image still goes on supremely though he has crossed 40 but the age does not matter at all for this man who still looks fresh and is liked to be watched in a role of a romantic guy. In this flick, he continues with his tradition to be a lover boy romancing two vivacious and sexy girls.

Cocktail tells the story of three characters – Veronica, Guatam and Meera. Veronica likes Gautam and he likes her as well. But then unthinkable happens Gautam loses his heart to Meera.

The concept of Cocktail is not novel at all in Hindi cinema, as we have grown up watching the movies on this subject. But in this offering of Homi Adajania, the three lives together blissfully under one roof and enjoys each other’s company. Cocktail appeals to the hearts due to its fun stuff, being a rom com, having international look and brilliant eye-pleasing styling.

The film talks about the three characters which are different from each other – Gautam is contemptible and wacky in nature, Veronica is wild whereas Diana is a simpleton.

Gautam (Saif Ali Khan) is a flirt and has affair with Veronica, the wild babe. They are in no commitment relationship. Meera (Diana Penty) is a best friend of Veronica and they live together. Both Veronica and Meera have different natures but they come close to each other and turn best pals. Meera, the simpleton girl who is quite desi at heart, does not like Gautam. But soon the unbelievable takes place and the two – Meera and Guatam start loving each other.

The movie has true urban and chic look which is the plus point of the film. The three characters’ laughter and their enjoying life king size add sparkles to the movie’s worth. Director Homi Adajania, who made his Bollywood debut with Being Cyrus, executes the script brilliantly on celluloid with fabulous ease. It is a complex flick that shows off the particulars and the complexities of human relationships. Where the movie is laced with fun moments, laughter and urban feel, it also carries the emotions. The styling (as mentioned above) and the visuals are first rate and allure the souls at once. The biggest highlight of the film is the three characters’ characterization which has been done with absolute care.

The story, as depicted above, is not novel but interests the viewers. Imtiaz Ali’s screenplay has been written luminously but it definitely has drawbacks and faults. The first half of the movie is superb getting swathed with fun moments and pleasurable sequences to enjoy with. The second half is lethargic in pace and becomes stretched. You even start getting bored. Besides all this, a number of songs too spoil the pleasures.

Music by Pritam is melodious and Tumhi Ho Bandhu, Jugni (sung by Pakistani singer Arif Lohar) and Second Hand Jawani appeal to the souls. Salim-Sulaiman’s background music is well composed. Dialogues are okay not extraordinary. Styling is simply fabulous and Anaita Shroff Adajania deserves the brawny points for the job. Anil Mehta’s cinematography is brilliant since it gives you international feel. The international locales have been captured marvelously. Editing is below average.

This is one of Saif Ali Khan’s best performances so far in his career. Saif loots the hearts with superb acting. Deepika Padukone delivers her career’s best. After Love Aaj Kal, both Saif and Deepika have shared the screen space together. Dian Penty makes her fantastic Bollywood debut with this film. She does not show that she is a debutante. Dimple Kapadia impresses with her part. Boman Irani is first rate. Rest of the cast is awesome as well.Audio
