Based on the novel by Kotaro Isaka and directed by Masaya Kakehi, Sweet Rain [Accuracy of Death - Suwîto Rein: Shinigami no Seido 2008] is the story of a "grim reaper" named Kakei Chiba (played by Takeshi Kaneshiro). Kotaro Isaka long resisted offers to have the book filmed, and only gave consent on the condition that Takeshi Kaneshiro would star as Chiba.
Chiba's task is to visit some chosen individuals seven days before their death and decide whether they have already fulfilled their purpose on earth and can step off the stage of life or not. This time he has to evaluate Kazue Fujiki (Manami Konishi), who leads an unlucky life, and who seems to be ill-starred since everyone around her dies. Furthermore, she is also stalked by someone who continually calls her at her work place.
Years later Chiba has yakuza boss Fujita (Ken Mitsuishi) as a new "client". Many years in the future, Chiba now has to take care of an old lady (Junko Fuji), who works as a hair stylist who's only friend is a robot companion. She immediately realizes what Chiba really is so asks him to help her fulfill her last wish.
