Chogyam Trungpa - Collected Works (8 volumes)

His writings are seductively eloquent, with fresh and insightful interpretations of many of the standard Tibetan Buddhist metaphors. Definitely worth reading, as there is a lot of original material here, cast in a manner that is very accessible to the western audience.



However, if you've ever seen him lecture, you will undoubtedly be surprises at his relatively poor command of spoken English. It seems almost impossible to believe that this is the same man who wrote those books. Actually, his recorded lectures were transcribed, edited and polished by highly educated western disciples.



Let's overlook the fact that he was abusive to many of his followers, drank himself to death (age 48), and chose as his successor a man (Ösel Tendzin) who, knowing that he had AIDS ,passed it on to others through unprotected sex -- Crazy Wisdom, indeed.
