TRAMA:

Chiamatemi Francesco è il racconto del percorso che ha portato Jorge Bergoglio, figlio di una famiglia di immigrati italiani a Buenos Aires, alla guida della Chiesa Cattolica. È un viaggio umano e spirituale durato più di mezzo secolo, sullo sfondo di un paese, l'Argentina, che ha vissuto momenti storici controversi, fino all'elezione al soglio pontificio nel 2013. Negli anni della giovinezza Jorge è un ragazzo come tanti, peronista, con una fidanzata, gli amici, e una professoressa di Chimica, Esther Ballestrino, cui rimarrà legato per tutta la vita. Tutto cambia quando la vocazione lo porterà a entrare, poco più che ventenne, nel rigoroso ordine dei Gesuiti. Durante la terribile dittatura militare di Videla, Bergoglio viene nominato, seppur ancora molto giovane, Padre Provinciale dei Gesuiti per l'Argentina. Questa responsabilità in un momento così tetro metterà alla prova, nel modo più drammatico, la fede e il coraggio del futuro Papa. Jorge nonostante i rischi si impegnerà in prima persona nella difesa dei perseguitati dal regime - ma pagherà un prezzo umanamente altissimo vedendo morire o "scomparire" alcuni tra i suoi più amati compagni di strada. Da questa esperienza Bergoglio uscirà cambiato e pronto a vivere il suo impegno futuro nella costante difesa degli ultimi e degli emarginati.

STORYLINE:

Call Me Francis is the tale of the path that has led Jorge Bergoglio, son of a family of Italian immigrants in Buenos Aires, to guide the Catholic Church. It is a journey of human and spiritual lasted more than half a century, against the background of a country, Argentina, who lived historical moments controversial until'election to the papal throne in 2013. In the years of youth Jorge is a guy like so many, Peronist, with a girlfriend, friends, and a professor of chemistry, Esther Ballestrino, which will remain linked for life. Everything changes when the vocation will lead him to enter, early twenties, in strict order of the Jesuits. During the terrible military dictatorship of Videla, Bergoglio is appointed, though still very young, Father Jesuit Provincial for Argentina. This responsibility in a moment so bleak will put to the test in the manner most dramatic, the faith and courage of the future Pope. Jorge despite the risks they will engage in first person in the defense of the persecuted by the regime - but will pay a price that is humanly altissimo seeing die or "disappear" some among his most beloved fellow Street. From this experience Bergoglio exits changed and ready to live his future commitment in the constant defense of the poor and the marginalized.
