Een rondreizend circus stopt bij een plattelandstadje in Nebraska. De attractie die bij de mensen het populairst is,
is de Jersey Devil (een mytisch wezen), die in een kooi zit. Maar dan ontsnapt het wezen en slacht alle burgers van het dorpje af.
De lokale sheriff, Sam Atlas, besluit het wezen op te jagen. Maar de Jersey Devil is niet zijn enige probleem...
