Description
Captain Beyond 5.1 DTS-MA Blu-ray Upmix by Sansdancer (sbu) This is a 5.1 DTS-Master Audio lossless surround sound upmix. I used the SPEC method and tools available on Surroundbyus.com to do the initial channel splitting. This upmix can only be played on PCs and Blu-Ray DVD home theater/audio systems capable of decoding and playing DTS-MA files. You can burn it to a standard DVD blank (it doesn't need to be a blu-ray blank or burner) using the ISO file. I recommend ImgBurn for best results. The musicians that formed Captain Beyond were already well known by Rock fans. Rod Evans was the original singer for Deep Purple (Hush, Kentucky Woman, etc.), bassist Lee Dorman was from Iron Butterfly (In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida), guitarist Larry "Rhino" Reinhardt was from the later line-up of Iron Butterfly (Metamorphosis) and drummer Bobby Caldwell was in Johnny Winter And. Caldwell left after the first album to join Rick Derringer's band and was replaced by Marty Rodriguez for the second album. Caldwell returned for their third album, but Evans had departed and was replaced by Willie Daffern. The group broke up after the third album but reformed briefly for an EP in 2000. Their first album, Captain Beyond (1972) is a one-of-a-kind progressive album with Rock, Heavy Metal, and Jazz influences with a "Space Rock" lyrical bend. While not exactly a concept album, the songs flow into each other with lyrics and musical passages that re-occur in successive songs that tie the album together as a single piece. It is a Classic Rock masterpiece. The second and third albums were not as strong as the first, partly because they lack the heaviness and time signature changes so prevalent on their debut disc. This upmix includes the entire "Captain Beyond" and "Sufficiently Breathless" albums, all but two tracks from "Dawn Explosion" and a bonus track from the "Crystal Clear" EP. Photo slides accompany each song. Sharing Widget |
