Caprica takes place 50 years before the "Battlestar Galactica" series and the Fall of the Twelve Colonies. It is a prequel that focuses on the Adama and Graystone families on the planet Caprica and the invention of the Cylons.

Two families, the Graystones and the Adamas, live together on a planet known as Caprica, where a startling breakthrough in artificial intelligence brings about unforeseen consequences. The series follows these two families living in the corrupt and decadent Caprican metropolis Caprica City, while the creation of the Cylons and the fall of Colonial society is the background for Caprica.
