Charlie Luxton comes to the aid of first-time self-builders Howard Lawrenson and Kevin Taylor who are trying to build a bungalow on a plot overlooking a park in Bolton. The tricky part is that first they have to dig a 15-foot hole to put it in and Charlie is worried that the groundworks will be too much for them. When the build gets off to a bad start, it looks like his fears are well founded with the budget in ruins and cafe owner Howard questioning his own role as project manager. However, a sudden change in finances sets the build on a very different course.
