Trama :

Buffy Summers ( Kristy Swanson ) è un'allegra majorette del liceo Hemery, nel Sud della California, che ama essere alla moda e uscire col suo ragazzo. Un giorno, mentre si allena, riceve la visita del misterioso signor Merrick ( Donald Sutherland ) , che rivive nel tempo per addestrare le giovani donne prescelte per eliminare i vampiri, che le rivela che è l'eletta. Dopo l'iniziale riluttanza della ragazza, Merrick la porta al cimitero per darle una dimostrazione, così Buffy accetta di essere allenata dall'uomo per la battaglia. In città avvengono infatti da un po' di tempo misteriose morti, che si verrà a sapere essere opera di un vampiro collaboratore di Lothos ( Rutger Hauer ) , il capo di una congrega che si amplia ad ogni nuova vittima.

È importante l'incontro con Oliver Pike ( Luke Perry ) , un giovane a cui Buffy pian piano si affeziona, il cui migliore amico ( David Arquette ) è stato vampirizzato. Durante gli scontri, Merrick muore contro Lothos, e Pike resta l'unico amico e punto di riferimento per Buffy. Durante il ballo di fine anno della scuola, i vampiri si intrufolano nella discoteca, scatenando il panico generale. Buffy, che inizialmente aveva deciso di abbandonare l'incarico, sostenuta da Pike, riesce a sconfiggere i vampiri e il loro capo, Lothos.
