The recording offered here of Britten's cycle "Les Illuminations"
was the first-ever recording this listener ever heard of Britten's
music. This was on a radio broadcast during the mid-1960's. It still
remains (for me, at least) one of the most satisfying performances when it comes to this composer's works.
