Brahms - Sym No. 4 - Celibidache & Berlin Phil (1947) [Philidor; FLAC]

In his early years, Celibidache was fast-tracked to lead the Berlin Philharmonic. But he always spoke his mind about other conductors and performers during published interviews, and he was almost always highly insulting--in a very generalized, "they're terrible, they know nothing" kind of way. A few years after this he left the Berlin Philharmonic, and didn't return. His Brahms here is a passionate reading, filled with extremes, showing just what a firebrand Celi was during those years. It is not duplicated by the other, later readings found here, and is much more temperamental. Enjoy.
