Description
4 years after the release of the towering "Satan Worshipping Doom", Bongripper returns with Miserable. The sixth full-length release from Chicago's finest instrumental doom four-piece. Satan Worshipping Doom is still on heavy rotation around here, I consider it as one of the best things that happened to heavy music in the last years. A dark, crushingly heavy epic of everything you could possibly love in massive stoner, sludge and doom metal. Bongripper rightfully gained alot of attention through the web from countless blogs, e-zines and some highly respected music critics. They also appeared on Roadburn 2012 (a first for Europe) and released an excellent live album of their performance through Burning World Records. Still available as PWYW dowload on Bandcamp, so go download it. 2014 welcomes a bigger and badder follow-up to Satan Worshipping Doom. Miserable follows the same conceptual path of SWD, with 3 long tracks (the shortest being 17:49) that form an unholy sentence: Endless - Descent - Into Ruin.Ronald Petzke - Bass Daniel O'Connor - Drums Nick Dellacroce - Guitars Dennis Pleckham - Guitars Tracklist: Quote: 01 - Endless 02 - Descent 03 - Into Ruin Genre: Doom Subgenre: Instrumental Doom / Sludge Bitrate: 320 k Size: 150.07 MB Show/Hide Files: 4 files All this is wrapped in an amazing piece of artwork by Mike Miller. Seriously, it's one of the best pieces of art I've seen for this kind of music. View the full version here. Inside the package lies a monumental sound that crushes everything. Each track on Miserable uses the same blueprint with different arrangements. Sluggish riffs pounding immensly heavy through a wave of crashing cymbals and colossal kicks. All this sonic violence interchanges with dark, droning and highly atmospheric soundscapes that act like bridges to the next barrage of gargantuan riffs, making them sound even heavier. Bongripper's latest is an exceptionally consistent follow-up to Satan Worshipping Doom with a darker and ballsier sound, If you though this band couldn't get any heavier, think again. Miserable is the best of both worlds, it combines all the unsettling noise and ethereal atmospheric nature of the band's early work with the extreme dirty down-tuned doom that defined Bongripper as one of the heaviest bands of today.
