Description
Boiling Water Reactor Nuclear Plant Simulator
Version 4.4.5 Freeware (no junk) *** Description *** * The BWR program fully integrates a full-featured training curriculum in nuclear power technology with a computerized simulation of a typical BWR. The program will teach you everything you'll need to know to operate the power plant. As you learn the basics of reactor theory and operation, you'll soon be able to bring the plant to full power, generating over one billion watts of electricity. * The BWR simulation is modeled after a real boiling water nuclear power plant. Specifically, it models a typical plant in the General Electric BWR-4 product line. Of the world-wide total of commercial nuclear power plants currently in operation, over 60 are Boiling Water Reactors designed and built by the General Electric Company, with over 30 additional BWRs based on the GE design. The Boiling Water Reactor simulated by the BWR Program is typical of these plants. The BWR-4 is the most prevalent Boiling Water Reactor plant design, accounting for 25 of the operating BWRs. The differences from one BWR plant design to the next are, however, minor in nature. They are all essentially the same type of power plant, and experience gained in operating the BWR Program will extend to the operation of any Boiling Water Reactor. * Minimum System Requirements: Intel® Pentium® III or equivalent processor Windows XP Professional/Home Edition, or greater 256 MB of RAM (512 MB recommended). 40 MB of available hard disk space. Minimum 1024 X 768 screen resolution (1280 X 1024 recommended) with 32 bit colors. (screen resolution should be adjusted if necessary prior to running the program) Additionally, Adobe Reader® is required to view or print the BWR Training Manual as well as several other documents needed to operate the simulator. The latest version of Adobe Reader can be obtained at http://www.adobe.com/products * Installation and Operation: Download the BWR setup file by clicking on the download button above. Select "Open" or "Run from current location" from the setup file download dialog to begin the download and installation (or select Save and select save to the Windows Desktop - then, following download, double click on the Setup icon on the desktop). Follow the instructions displayed on your screen to install the program. Start the program by double-clicking the "BWR" icon on the Windows Desktop (or the file "BWRSetupxxx.exe" located in the installation folder). When the program starts, you'll have an opportunity to print the "Getting Started Guide", Power to Flow Operating Map, and Control Rod Sequence Checkoff Sheets (Adobe Reader pdf files). These documents can also be viewed/printed from the Help menu inside the program. Follow the steps in the Getting Started Guide. We strongly recommend beginning with the BWR Interactive Tutorial.
