However, the innovative and influential blues harpist hasn't released an album since 2004's Don't Mess With The Bluesmen, recorded with guitarist Carlos Johnson, working instead as a live performer and in-demand studio pro. Branch has reunited with old friends and longtime band members Nick Charles (bass) and Moses Rutues, Jr. (drums), along with keyboardist Sumito "Ariyo" Ariyoshi and guitarist Dan Carelli to rip through a set of original songs and choice covers on Blues Shock that crackle with electricity. Blues Shock is a fine collection of old-school Chicago and contemporary blues sure to thrill fans of both.
