I'm also big fan of hi-res audio. The increased detail, smoothness of sound, timbral richness, more spatial information (recording room acoustics), better dynamics... But..I have a well trained ears and hi end audio system. The better the audio gear - the difference is more meaningful. Anyway im my opinion the 24bit and SACD formats are the future (and in fact present) of high quality audio. Just listen to well recorded Stevie Ray Vaughan's Strat and Marshall...:)
