The 1947 recording date explains the quality - 1954 they had better equipments usually.

Releasing vintage recordings like this in hi-res audio does make sense. 16bit 44kHz resolution is always a limitation. Beside that - the mastering for these reissues is usually very good and it's not a common practice in music business. I have this album in 24bit resolution but thanks for all your work!

You are right, it's worth because of the remastering. But do you think the 192kHz makes sense? Maybe my ears are too old ... but I guess the quality of these specific original masters was quite poor ... even for the '50s

Well..the better recorded the material the more sense hi-res format makes. The source material of this album are clearly original analogue records (quality differs from track to track). I'm a big Billie's fan so I don't complain - this is sometimes the best source material we have.
I'm also big fan of hi-res audio. The increased detail, smoothness of sound, timbral richness, more spatial information (recording room acoustics), better dynamics... But..I have a well trained ears and hi end audio system. The better the audio gear - the difference is more meaningful. Anyway im my opinion the 24bit and SACD formats are the future (and in fact present) of high quality audio. Just listen to well recorded Stevie Ray Vaughan's Strat and Marshall...:)

I agree ... Generally it's a real pleasure to listen to legendary recordings remastered in 24bit audio HD ... but of course the remaster never can be better than the source ... I'll seed some more of Billie's classics the next days. HD remasters really worth the effort...
